Members of the Green Street Mortuary Band brave all weather in North Beach and Chinatown for a swan song. The band, now in its third decade, is popular among Chinese American mourners and is a fixture in North Beach. Led for many years by Lisa Pollard, who played sax for Duke Ellington and was a onetime leader of Finocchio's house band, the 10-piece Green Street combo leads funeral processions through favorite neighborhood hangouts of the dearly departed. |
