Sunset
District residents Diana Scott and Joel Schechter are the husband-and-wife
team that founded the Ocean Beach Historical Society to preserve the legacy
of San Francisco's historic oceanside amusement sites and the culture of
Playland. Few remnants of Playland remain, and some of those that have
survived were moved from their original locations. The focus of Scott and
Schechter's recent efforts has been the beloved Doggie
Dinner mascot. Diana says, "Our mission is to keep the landmarks on
the land they mark!"
