San Francisco in Cinema: The Other Sister

The Other Sister is director Garry Marshall's shameless 1999 comedy/drama about a mentally challenged woman ready to assert her independence. Juliette Lewis is the young woman, Carla Tate. Diane Keaton is her protective mother, Elizabeth. Tom Skerritt, Giovanni Ribisi, Hector Elizondo, and Juliette Mills also star. After Carla marries sweetheart Ribisi at the National Shrine of St. Francis in North Beach, the couple heads down Columbus Avenue on the back of a convertible to live happily ever after. The Palace of Fine Arts, the Bay Bridge, and the Golden Gate also appear.
