Director Wim Wenders' 1982 mystery Hammett finds the famed noir author of the Tenderloin on the trail of a missing cabaret star. Frederick Forrest stars as Dashiell Hammett, with Peter Boyle, Marilu Henner, and Lydia Lei in key roles. Filmed in part on Hastings Alley on Russian Hill, Hammett is based on the novel by Joe Gores and was executive produced by Francis Ford Coppola.
